Happy Birthday Jen

Happy Birthday Jen!!!  I've cooked up a sparkly treat for you and am toasting you, virtually :)  The sentiment is perfect because by the time I actually mail the card, it will be late (but at least I'm posting it on the right day, that's gotta count for something right?).  Karen and I are playing along with Karen's Carbon Copied fun, we've both used The Craft's Meow Retro Foundations and Jay Gee's Nook Challenge to wish Jen a fabulous birthday.  My card is also loosely based on the current The Craft's Meow sketch.

Materials: The Crafts Meow Retro Foundation and Star Quality, PTI Tag It Sale die, May Arts satin pleats and silk ribbons, PTI rustic white card stock, Bazzill Basics black card stock, Versafine black ink, My Favorite Things Let's Toast die, Glitter Foam

Happy Birthday Karen

Happy Birthday Karen!!!!

Jen and I decided to host our own Carbon Copy to wish Karen a happy birthday, we've both used Skipping Stones Grunge with Jay Gee's Nook current color challenge and May Arts ribbon.

Before we settled on the above combo the idea was to play along with The Craft's Meow sketch, using some of Karen's stamps, but Jen's artistic talents led her down a different path... so I'm sharing both :)  Wishing the birthday gal a fabulous day!

round and 16

Cheers!  It's hot in California and a nice cold lemonade sounds delish... (but based on the way my day has gone, I've gone for a large glass of red wine instead).  365 Cards is kicking off a fun week with DRS Designs and I've got the first card, challenge theme is "round".  Interpret how you wish, come play along with us for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to their shop.  I've used the interlocking circle background to set the tone on this fun card.

And this card... remember a couple weeks back when I said I needed a teen birthday card for my neighbor, well she didn't like this one.  So when I saw Angeline's card on Jay Gee's Nook I decided to CASE it and then add a few of the colors from the current challenge.  Hope she likes this one, the birthday boy is turning 16 on Wendesday.

Hope everyone else started off their week on the right foot.  I had a busy weekend in my little town, a soapbox derby then a big bike race!

Materials: Lawn Fawn Swim Suit Season, PTI Daily Designs, DRS Interlocking Circle, PTI kraft card stock, Versafine black ink, watercolor pencil, Glossy Accents, EK Success 1 3/4th inch circle punch

couch cards and a gardening giveaway

hoping you're fully "Re-covered" soon!  I love this PTI On My Couch and On My Couch Additions set...  and thanks to my fabulous blogging pal Jen, who sent me this card with some goodies for a project I needed ASAP, I decided to CASE her card.  And, so not to disappoint Jen in my challenge happy ways, I'm going to enter this in the Moxie Fab World "Damask and Brocade Challenge" and the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol auditions.

And after I'd made this card I decided to alter the agenda a tad and play along with Jay Gee Nook's challenge and I made a white embossed damask background, I went for the white couch in the upper right of the photo.  The goodies that Jen sent me are part of a giveaway I'm having on my work blog.  Anyone a gardener????  I'll probably share the homemade cards later in the week, but in the mean time click here to see the amazing gardening goodies I'm giving away, leave a comment to win on the Inn's blog, will ship goodies (but not the tomato plant, sorry).

And because Mr. Ben is so amazing with his cards, here's the one he made for my mom, I just love how he added the WMS Half Pint Hero head to the Practicing Creativity bike...  She liked the card.

Tuesday's Projects

Good morning... do any of you crafty friends have projects you need to do and then sit down and make a bunch of non-related items?  Today's projects fall into that catagory, I'm suppose to be making a 50th birthday card and a dozen book themed cards, funny how none of these projects have anything to do with those commissions.

This any occasion card uses this week's Play Date Cafe colors and the current Make It Monday challenge (use leaf dies to make a flower).  This card is out of my normal box, a) no stamping, b) lots of patterend paper and b) a non-white or kraft card base.  Who knew!

My blog pal Lynn is the guest over at Retro Sketches and I sat down in my messy room with her card for the challenge (which you can spy on my desk-- thanks Lynn for sending it to me) and somehow, despite having all the pieces for a CASEd card, I made a coffee card.  Does that happen to you guys?  Many thanks to Maureen for the blog candy with the fun Verve Better With You set.  And don't you love how my mess is taking over the entire room, ha ha!!!  (And I'm going to add this to the fun WOYWD fun, haven't played along in a long time... not that I've ever been clean, and yes, I'm slightly cheating since I took these photos Tuesday morning, but....).  And one more challenge, there's a new blog called "A Blog Named Hero" and their challenge is to use one of your favorite Hero Arts stamps, seriously if anyone needs any enabling to buy the Classic Fabric background-- do it!  It's great, so versatile and useful.

Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge this week was the perfect sketch to test out my new Die-namics "Let's Toast" set.   I love the bright party scene in this month's Jay Gee's Nook challenge, while I'm switched ballons for banners, I'm sure my wine label and bottle of wine will be well received at this party.  There are more fun goodies in the MFT set that I'm sure will get some love in my crafty room, maybe after I finish the other cards?  Thanks for looking...

Materials: Flower Card, PTI Rosie Posie dies, My Mind's Eye Six by Six patterned paper, PTI simply chartreuse card stock, vellum, PTI linen impression plate, Tim Holtz Distress stain antique linen, October Afternoon Farmhouse buttons

one theme, three ways

My sister works in the free ski world and was greatly effected by today's loss of athlete Sarah Burke.  So thinking of her I made these three cards, all different, but using the same elements and trying to convene the same feeling.

The first card uses the Make It Monday technique of Ghost Masking.

This one uses Jay Gee's Nook color board.

And this one uses the Play Date Cafe colors and instead of the PTI In Bloom flowers I used the leaves.

Materials: PTI In Bloom, PTI Mat Stack 1 Collection, Versafine black ink, water color pencils, PTI cream card stock, EK Success corner rounder punch

PTI In Bloom, Mat Stack 1 Collection, Waltzingmouse Stamps Frame It sentiment, PTI Mat Stack 1 die, PTI In Bloom die, Tim Holtz woodgrain embossing folder, PTI cream card stock, burlap, Versafine black ink, Tim Holtz distress stain antique linen

PTI In Bloom, Waltzingmouse Stamps Say it Loud, PTI Mat Stack 1 frame and die, burlap, PTI kraft and chocolate chip card stock, Coredinations card stock, Versafine black ink, Tim Holtz woodgrain embossing folder, Stampendous clear embossing powder, Tim Holtz Distress Stain antique linen

hello friend, you're a star teacher

I tried to bribe myself yesterday with some new Authenique Paper (who is having a Facebook giveaway right now if you want to try to win some!  Please tell them I sent you), the deal was I got something at Ben Franklin if I cleaned up the house.  Let's just say that I love my new paper, but my house still needs a bit of TLC, is that cheating?  Challenge happy girl over here decided to mix and match a few of the current challenges.  The current Jay Gee's Nook challenge had me thinking about yellow.  I started off with the bookmark, I have loosely used the Waltzingmouse Stamps sketch (the CAS girl in me decided to go super simple, but I mixed up two different WMS sentiments to make up for it?).  I haven't played with Wee Memories in awhile, so I thought this paper was a great way to incorporate the "Back to School" challenge.

And then since I was feeling a bit guilty that my bookmark was super simple I made a card to go with it using the Moxie Fab World vertical sketch.  Once again I'm veering from the sketch a bit, but I thought the butterfly sorta worked for the banners.

Materials: Card: Authenique Blissful patterned paper, Tattered Angels chipboard butterfly, SRM stickers, Core'dinations card stock, ribbon from Stephanie, water color pencils and blender pen

Bookmark: Waltzingmouse Stamps Frame It and Say It Loud sentiments, Authenqiue Blissful patterned paper, Versafine black ink, PTI bookmark die, Twinery charcoal twine

purple celebration

Karen and Lynn are taking part on in a fun Carbon Copy challenge, and I decided to crash the Jay Gee's Nook purple party!  I don't have the PTI Stamp-a-Faire set they used, so I decided to CASE Nichole's Make it Monday card with the PTI Happy Trails set.  Since my copic collection is limited to a total of two different colors, I decided to just change up the color of some fabulous May Arts ribbon and colored the whole piece.

Materials: PTI Happy Trails sentiment and die, Mint Motif cloud stamp, PTI impression plate, Stampin Up square scallop punch, May Arts ribbon, Core'dinations purple card stock, PTI kraft card stock, Versafine black ink, Brillance Moonshine ink,  Copic BV17

hello

Hello!  I've got a blog birthday to celebrate and I've got a few fun prizes up my sleeve.  Since I'm still playing with my blog candy list, I think I'll borrow Emily's idea and just hide the prizes in the next week's posts.  So, please become a follower and check back with me this week to see what I've got in store.  My first hint is that this post will be connected to a small Two Peas Gift Certificate.

Jay Gee's Nook Challenge #7 had me grabbing Lawn Fawn Just My Type.  And I had in the back of my mind that I wanted to try to play along with Kristina's Finally Friday Challenge, make your own banner. This week's Wee Memories Challenge is paper piercing and I've cut out the typewriter and sheet of paper, so let's add this little card to their challenge.  Since I'm celebrating my blog's one year birthday it's fun to look back and see that I've entered Jenny's challenges 47 times in the last year and the first one was exactly one year ago, click here to see my first Wee Memories cards.

Materials: Lawn Fawn Just My Type typewriter, Studio G alphabet letters, Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 paper, Verafine Black ink, Tim Holtz Distressing ink Antique Linen and Worn Lipstick, Spellbinders Nestabilities Label 1, white gel pen, Baker's Delight twine

a bicycle built for 2

The literal girl in me is out again, so I wanted to play along with Jay Gee's Nook color challenge and since I have a weakness for bicycles, decided to pull out the Unity set I recently bought.  And since I'm playing with the new Unity background stamps I won I added the burlap background (thanks Play Date Cafe) and added some glitter for the current All Things Unity challenge to "bling it up".  Go figure I add glitter on an overcast day, you can't quite see the sparkle... but it's just the right amount of bling for me (it's the Make It Monday tip from a couple of weeks ago, click here for the video).

Materials: Unity Life is Fabulous kit bicycle and sentiment, Unity burlap background, Spellbinders Nestabilities Label 8, PTI Kraft card stock, Stampin Up Baja Breeze card stock, Martha Stewart black glitter, Versafine black ink, white gel pen, black sharper, Copic R85
