fall friend

There are a number of fall/leaf challenges at the moment and I wanted to make one to help celebrate the season that I'm going to miss this year (we're doing winter/spring/winter/spring with our international move later this year). So please, all of you in the northern hemisphere, please enjoy fall, because I've got to wait a long time before I get to hear the crunch of leaves.

I've used the background challenge that Karen created for Yvonne's blog, Do More With Less. I made this card already, so I borrowed from my previous card and used another brown paper bag as one of the layers. Hero Arts & Critter Challenge are celebrating fall, Stamp Simply is celebrating leaves. The Secret Saturday Crafter is celebrating CAS this week, my kinda style.

Happy Summer

Cas-tasic Wednesday, Wee Memories and Saturday Crafter are having summer challenges this week. Karen posted this lovely card and I thought on no I can't do one like that (same general idea, same Lawn Fawn set), but she said yes. So, I took note of her blog post that said the floss for her clothesline was messy and difficult, so I used zip ties and electrical tape. Karen, no mess here, it did exactly what it was told to do. And then she commented about the Practicing Creativity set and I thought, "perfect, I'll hang some flip flops just like that set." So thanks Karen for helping me sort out my card. So exciting to help celebrate summer after a morning of skiing in the snow with my lovely husband.

Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC34- Flower card

I was so excited that my card from last week's Play Date Cafe got a "cream of the coffee" that I started brain storming for this week's colors immediately. I recently got this set of stamps from Waltzingmouse and I've been waiting to give them a try. I thought a touch of blue would work well for these big beautiful flowers. The sentiment is from free Paper Crafts simple sentiments July/August 2010. There's still time for another card for Secret Saturday Crafter's challenge to use a quote. And while we're on a blue tangent we can enter Rosie-D's challenge for something blue (sorry no fish on this card).

Quality of Coffee quote card

If you can't read the quote it says "The powers of man's mind are directly proportional to the quality of coffee he drank" by Sir Jesse McKintosh.

I have to admit that my first attempt for this sketch didn't work at all. And then after a bit of playing around I put these pieces together and I really like this version. The sketch is from 2 Sketches 4 You. The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge said to use a quote. The Just Us Girls Challenge said use something digital.
