hello

hello... Runway Inspired Challenge is having a tribute challenge to Oscar de la Renta and I used the above as my source of inspiration.  I liked how Aga used some string on her project, so I added some May Arts burlap string behind my Hero Arts embossed background.  I've used the Altenew flowers, PTI tag and embossing plate, plus some May Arts silk, miste and a corner rounder.  The hello sentiment is PTI.  Green and purple is not my go to color combo, but this card is growing on me.

home sweet home tag

Happy Tuesday crafty pals.  I was inspired to play along with Runway Inspired latest challenge, plus using the technique from this week's PTI Make It Monday (dry embossing over heat embossing-- which is hard to see in these photos, but adds a really cool added layer of texture to the tag, I used the PTI Linen and Canvas Impression plate.)  For the tag I used the PTI On the Farm stamp set and the WPlus9 Folk Art Florals birdhouse die (which I die cut out of a recycled wedding inviation and then used some distress inks).  And finally I used the PTI sentiment heat embossed on vellum and used May Arts sheer with ruffle, faux canvas ribbons and burlap string and added a few Studio Calico wood stars.  Right, back to work I go....

just a note

Good morning, just a note today to share with the Runway Inspired and CAS(E) this sketch challenges.  I love CAS cards, on this one I've used the WMS herringbone and PTI flowers and sentiment.  Have a fabulous Sunday, off for a walk in the dark before I go and tackle another day of Mount Laundry.  But check out the fun I had yesterday at the wine tasting event.

thanks card

I went back and watched Season 4 of Project Runway and have been having lots of "make it work" moments, so of course it made sense to play along with the Runway Inspired challenge.  Love the look of the Hero Arts background embossed with white on vellum.  I bought a new type of embossing powder last week and it has issues if you over heat it, so not sure what I think of the spots where you can see the blank ink (maybe I should've used embossing ink?).   In addition to the background stamp I used some May Arts black velvet ribbon and their new burlap cotton blend ribbon, a piece of gold foil and the PTI thanks die cut.  For the background I combined splatters from my watercolor brush with some metallic mist from Tattered Angels.  It's a beautiful day here in California, check out my morning photo on my walk this morning.  And now I'm off to the County Fair!

thanks runway inspired style

The new Runway Inspired Challenge seemed like a good source of inspiration for a needed thank you card, I used Wplus9 florals, PTI wet paint die, sequins and May Arts velvet ribbon.  Hope everyone is having a good 4th of July week, I escaped the laundry room for a speedy overnight camp out and a overnight birthday slumber party for a crew of boys.  Wishing everyone a safe and fun 4th of July.

with gratitude

Playing along with the duo challenge of Runway Inspired and CAS(E) this sketch!  I've used a stencil and black embossing paste, May Arts leaves, WMS Funky Flowers and a Paper Smooches sentiment.  The card is a bit dark for me, maybe it's the CAS lover of white on white...  but being the literal person I was trying to work with the color palette of the inspriation photo.  Paper Smooches SPARKS is having an anything goes challenge, so I'll add this to that challenge too.  Happy Tuesday.

Runway Inspired love

Happy Tuesday friends, I started my day with snow flurries (click here to see a photo of downtown Nevada City).  But before I ventured outside I played along with the Runway Inspired Challenge (and yes it has taken me nearly 8 hours to actually getting around to posting the card I made this morning in the dark).  I, obviously, was captivated by the black speech bubble with the blue love in the dress.  I love that this card is a little messy.  I used the PTI speech bubble die, WPplus9 love die, Hero Arts newsprint stamp, Distress Inks, Perfect Pearls and Lil Inker stitched frame die).  I've got this really awesome giveaway on my work blog (and I'll mail the prize if you win), click here for the details.

feel better soon and happy birthday

I'm pretty sure with these cards (and a few from my stash) I have the 30 cards I need to give to my cousin this weekend, man that was a lot of crafting (my craft room looks even more a mess then normal).  So for this get well card I used the CAS(E) this Sketch and this week's Paper Smooches SPARKS stripes challenge.  My train of thought started with Lynn's cute card (for me, love that!), always good to use the PTI Half and Half dies.  I've also used the Paper Smooches Vogue Abode and Fascinators and the WMS Frame It sentiment.

And this CAS birthday card was inspired by the latest Runway Inspired Challenge, love the collection of Alberta Ferretti, I tried the stripes in a few different options and in the end just scored the whole panel and opted out of the stripes.

thank you

So if you follow my blog you'll see I've already made 2 cards for Runway Inspired Challenge, yesterday's card used the Hero Arts background stamp.  So being the very messy crafter that I am, those pieces are still sitting on my desk, so when I was asked to make a thank you card to go with a long and skinny gift certificate for my mom I reached for the pieces....   I've used a small piece of May Arts woven black velvet ribbon plus a strip of Coredination red card stock, PTI sentiment and card stock for this simple flat note card.  Maybe I should clean my desk?

happy birthday

I need a couple more birthday cards for my custom order and this morning at some silly early hour I was inspired by Lynn's card to play along with Runway Inspired Challenge, but instead of patterned paper I used the Hero Arts background stamp (which is now nicely organized thanks to some sleeves compliments of ~amy~), to get the back and grey look I clear embossed the background and then added twinkling h2os on top of it and it has a fun shimmer.  Other supplies include: WMS Funky Flowers, WMS Frame It Sentiment, PTI leaf from Rosie Posie, Hero Arts background, May Arts satin pleats ribbon.  I also wanted to play along again with the Waltzingmouse sketch for their PJ party, but instead of a circle I used a square and instead of a banner I added the sneiment in that general area (be proud, literal girl is breaking out).  My day has been a blur, I made this card over 13 hours ago and just now having a chance to sit down and post it... but I'm happy to report that I've been working on my wholesale accounts for my new postcards and today's total of postcards sold-- 403!  Woo hoo.

birthday cards, times 3

So I have these birthday cards I need to finish by tomorrow, so the first card is a CAS card based on the  Waltzingmouse PJ Party sketch.

And this card is my take on Art Deco, not really sure it works, but...

And since I had the above pieces out and thought the Basic Grey paper looked a lot like the skirt from the Runway Inspired Challenge I made another birthday card.  Literal girl over here would've like the red to be the same shade as the jacket, but oh well....

And for those of you who follow me on Instagram you'll see that I made postcards from some of my images from my work blog!  My fabulous friend Kathy helped with the graphic design and I can't tell you how excited I am by them.....

grind, scoop, pour and happy birthday card

You know for a person who has a lot of fun patterned paper, I don't use it very often in my cards...  I'm playing along with the new Fusion Challenge, using both the inspiration and the sketch.  Love it when my blogging friends challenge me to play along (yes, Lynn, got that message loud and clear).

And this card is inspired by the latest Runway Inspired Challenge, don't you love how I opted out of the light pink?  I inked up my In Bloom impression plate and ran it through the die cut machine giving the background a fun faux letterpress feel to the card and added a vellum panel and leaves and then wrapped the whole thing with May Arts ribbon.

Okay, here's my challenge to you guys... post a comment on this blog post to play my game of guess the location for your chance to win a free coffee mug.

thank you, runway inspired style

Something about the lines and the colors and the patches of color on the new Runway Inspired Challenge sent me down this path... I used some fun Distress Stains and a Hero Arts tweed background and misted the whole thing (and then stamped it twice, so I will probably make another card with the more vibrant version later).  I added a WMS flower and a WPlus9 sentiment and added a piece of May Arts sheer with tinsel edge ribbon and a smaller piece of velvet with satin edge.  And I've just sorted the technical side of my upcoming virtual class with Charity Wings, click here for details, excited to showcase some fun May Arts goodies....

you had me at hello

You had me at hello....  so I bought new PTI goodies (no surprise to anyone really) and love the bright new Zing embossing powders... I was inspired by this card by Chupa (had to dig deep in her blog to remember when the seed of inspiration had been planted, but now that I look back on the original card I realize that they're not very similar, oh well, bear with me on this rambling train of thought).

So along the lines of the fun embossing powders, I went a little crazy with my second card for the Runway Inspired Challenge.  And Simon Says Stamps is having an anything goes challenge.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Wednesday...

celebrate...runway inspired

So I was inspired by the beautiful dress and the silhouette of the model from Runway Inspired and started to play with the idea for this card last week, but couldn't find a dot the right size.  So I put the pieces aside and later made this card, which gave me the idea of using vellum and ribbon.  Well then I saw Chupa's post about using an eraser and discovered the Paper Smooches Gently Seasoned stamp set had a circle about the right size, so with a bit of mist and a piece of May Arts silk dyed to match, my dress came together.  Literal girl over here is happy...

3 flower cards

Runway Inspired sent me down a path thinking about twigs and flowers with off white, blue and greens... so I made the above card.  CAS-ual Fridays is still having a thank you card challenge this week, so this one will work well for that challenge too.  But then I was on a woodgrain train of thought and made the additional cards.
