Happy Mother's Day & boy reading thanks

In case you missed this or this post, I'm celebrating a blog birthday this week and I've got a few crafty goodies up my sleeve for a few lucky blog followers.  Post a comment on any post this week and check back with me on Sunday to see if you're the randomly drawn winner.  You must be a follower to win, as the last goodies I gave away I never heard from the lucky winner :(

Challenge happy girl over here got inspired by the current PTI Make It Monday video and pulled out the colors for this week's CR84FN.  I used an old Hero Arts sunflower and colored it in with colored pencils for the new HA month long challenge.  ABC Design blog is also celebrating flowers this month, I think I might have a few cards for their challenge.

This CAS card is just perfect for my writer friend who's new book just came out on Sunday.  I think a bookplate for a Mother's Day card is perfect (and her mom is fabulous too, she was my freshman algebra teacher!).

This card was my first attempt, and I have a hard time with the fact that the Mat Stack 3 section is crooked, but I've been commissioned to make about 20 of reading thank you cards, so I think it's a good jumping off point.  And I'm all about sharing cards, even the ones that aren't quite perfect.

Materials: First Card: Hero Arts sunflower stamp, WPlus9 Woodgrain Silhouette sentiment, PTI Mat Stack3 die, PTI Book Print Impression plate, Fiskars corner rounder, water color paper, water color pencils, yellow card stock from stash, PTI kraft, recycle Christmas ribbon, Versafine black ink

Second Card: Hero Arts sunflower, PTI Mat Stack 3 Collection frame, PTI Mat Stack 4 sentiment, PTI All Booked Up image, PTI Mat Stack 3 die, PTI Book Print Impression plate, Water color paper, gold card stock from stash, PTI kraft card stock, Versafine black ink, water color pencils,

Beautiful Mother's Day card, Erin! Hope you get the second one like you want it since you have to do so many! You can always cut the bookplate out if you have to. Thanks for the heads up about my win! I had not been there yet. I am going to love playing with that collection!

These are beautiful! I love the sunflower with the text embossing. One thing I've noticed is that the front edge of the die wants to twist away from the handle side of my Big Shot as I run the sandwich through. So I've been experimenting with putting it in just a bit off kilter to make up for it. Seems to work pretty well once you figure out the adjustment.

This certainly is a technique I hope you try more of in the future, your cards turned out fantastic. Love the colors on both of them. How cool is that to have a friend that has a book published. Cool indeed.
