16 years ago....  and on the inside I selectively inked the rest of the PTI Big Birthday Wishes sentiment to say "on what otherwise might have been just an ordinary day" for my card to celebrate my first date with my husband.  I asked him out, reason to celebrate right?  I've used the CPS sketch and the PTI Anniversary color challenge.  On a different note-- I'm hosting a photo challenge on my work blog, if any of you would like to pop over and vote for your favorite Nevada City photo that'd be great.  And-- since I won Leenne's Artful Delight blog giveaway I promised that I'd do a purge of my own... so come back, a clean out giveaway is in the works.

Materials: PTI Big Birthday Wishes sentiment, PTI By the number die, Tim Holtz Ornamental die, Spellbinders Label die, PTI edgers die, PTI impression plate, PTI kraft and pure poppy card stock, My Mind's Eye Six by Six patterned paper, May Arts natural string, Sharpie black pen, Versafine black ink, Stampendous clear embossing powder, Tim Holtz distress ink shabby shutters

Happy Father's Day cards

I've been asked for a Father's Day card and I was waiting for inspiration to hit me, so today I used the CR84FN colors and a loose take on this week's Card Positioning System's sketch.  Hero Arts' new challenge is to use water colors and I've used water color pencils to color in the flowers, although if you're looking for a great video check out the one on water color and distress ink.  Simon Says Stamp Challenge is about Father's Day Cards.

The current Etsy Inspired Challenge has a fun shop, and I found this piece of wood and decided to try my inking up the impression plate with a Tim Holtz embossing folder to see how that would turn out, it's not quite the same look, but fun technique... might keep working on it to see how I go.  And since Wee Memories is also doing an Etsy Inspired challenge this week I'll add this to their challenge too (b/c I love May Arts ribbon and would be siked if I could add some to my stash)..

Materials: First card: Hero Arts Three Floral Frames, WPlus9 Woodgrain Silhouette sentiment, Tim Holtz woodgrain embossing folder, Paper Phine twine, Core'dinations yellow card stock, PTI kraft card stock, water color pencils, Bic blue marker, Versafine black ink

Second card: WPlus9 Woodgrain Silhouette sentiment, Tim Holtz woodgrain embossing folder, Tim Holtz zig zag stitch embossing folder border, PTI kraft, Versacolor brown ink, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Aged Mahogany, Versafine black ink, vellum, PTI kraft card stock, Spellbinders Nestabilities Label 8, Twinery Cappuccino twine

Hello

Welcome to my mini challenge with the fabulous Karen.  The challenge to use the Hero Arts Hello Circle clear set and the current Card Positioning sketch.  I snuck in a Make It Monday technique too, because when looking for the right size banner I realized that I could take Erin Lincoln's video tip and make my stamp grow.  Per Emily's suggestion I'm going to enter this in the Cas-ual Fridays challenge, b/c Karen is on their DT and she rocks, don't let her tell you otherwise!

Materials: Hero Arts Hello Circle stamp, Hero Arts Digital Friendship stamp, Hero Arts Cling Classic Fabric stamp, PTI Mat Stack 3 sentiment frame, Spellbinders Scallop circles die, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Tim Holtz Distressing Ink Antique Linen and Worn Lipstick, Versafine black ink, vellum, water color paper, black card stock

bon voyage

This week's Color Throwdown colors are definitely my kind of colors. I decided to use the fun KAH-Wink-E-Dink Digi hot air balloon image that I won as a prize for winning last week's challenge. Their challenge this week is travel, so why not fly away in a hot air balloon? I've used the Card Positioning sketch as a starting point, although I realized after I'd finished the card that I didn't quite line things up right (see there's that literal part of me again!).

Materials: KAH-Wink-E Dink digital balloon, Chalkduster font sentiment, PTI kraft, Stampin Up chocolate chip card stock, yellow card stock from stash

Green Reading Tree Card

I love CAS cards and the stamped image of a small boy reading under a tree just melts my heart. I've used a piece of art paper from my scrap bag and I love the extra texture it gives to the card. I've used the Card Positioning Sketch.

Materials: PTI All Booked Up image, Fiskars circle punch, green art paper from stash, white twine, cream card stock

Just For You- pink & brown

I went into my craft room to make one card (something with buttons and a pink cowboy boot) and ended up making this CAS pink (can you believe it!) and brown card. I've used the Card Positioning Sketch and since it wasn't the card I meant to make I can't think of what other challenges it works for...

Materials: Stampin up sentiment, Stampin up oval scallop punch, ribbon from my stash, Stampin Up chocolate chip card stock, cream card stock, Fiskars scallop rotary cuter, corner rounder, Studio G pink ink

Home/Heart Card

Card Positioning System's sketch... I was trying to make a card to welcome some friends back to their house after an extended time in a hospital... somehow the card doesn't quite say that, but I'm still going to give it to them. I think sometimes more vague is a good thing.

Materials: Shelley Castillo Home Is the Where The Heart Is printed on vellum, Kolette Hall Circle of Love stamp, Stampin Up Chocolate Chip card stock, Cream card stock from Paper Plus, Fiskars rotary scallop cutter, VersaColor brown ink

Elephant card

I'm trying to figure out what's off with this card, I've already taken it apart and redone it once... I think it's the SEI paper I used-- I thought something a bit non-linear would be fun (it's got a slight angle on it), but now that I look at it, I'm not so sure. I'm posting the card and moving on! I've used the Card Positioning Sketch and the ColourQ colors. ColourQ ladies I tried using a very bold bright pink card stock I found in my stash and after multiple attempts I couldn't. So I resorted so a small dot of hot pink on the flower. I used my Stampin Up square scallop punch for the four squares, so I'll yet another card to the Mark's Finest Papers Speedy Cat challenge (to use a punch).

Materials: Stampendous elephant stamp, Stampin Up square scallop punch, Stampin Up pink card stock, grey card stock from stash, SEI patterned paper, pink marker, Stampin Up black ink

Dinosaur birthday card

We're still celebrating my birthday, click here for yesterday's post and blog candy giveaway. I was born on one side of the international date line and currently live on the other side (it's tomorrow here in New Zealand), so I think we should continue to celebrate my birthday- all you lovely folks in the US are on the right day!

This dinosaur birthday card uses the Card Positioning Sketch. It's also got three shades of green for the City Crafter Challenge. And Caardvarks is having a birthday challenge this month.

Materials: Paper Source dinosaur stamp, Cosmo Cricket Early Riser patterned paper, Fiskars free hand cutter for star, white gel pen, green art paper from stash, colored with markers

3 stars

Another take on the Card Positioning Systems sketch, using the ColourQ colors. I will admit that I put together the stars ages ago and when I cleaned my craft table I found them-- just waiting there patiently for a home. So, I added the light blue and marveled that I had the pieces all in place. The card works well for this week's Cupcake Inspirations.

Materials: Stampin Up star stamp, Making Memories eyelet, vellum, red star is out of Thai mulberry paper, Stampin Up circle punch, blue and red card stock from scraps, Stampin Up blue card stock

Sing, Laugh, Hope.. birthday cakes

A very red card, for 365 Cards 3 shades of red using the CPS- Card Sketch. Still working on taking photos at night, very open to suggestions- I've seen a number of folks mentions light boxes and digital camera settings, please feel free to share your thoughts.

Materials: Unknown company for sentiment, some one from Australia, Stampin Up designer paper, Paper Source circle punch, Paper Source Birthday Cake punch, Fiskars scallop cutter

Purple flower ribbon

I have decided that I love CAS cards. I saw this sketch on Card Positioning Systems and I kept thinking it had to be diamonds (I am far too literal sometimes). I was playing around with my new Walztingmouse stamps and thought the three small flowers would be a great take on the sketch. It was going to be a simple one layer card, but I kept smudging ink on the card, so out came the ribbon. I think the purple flowers are a nice touch.

Rocket Card

A clean & simple rocket ship card for this week's Card Positioning Sketch, using Curtain Call's colors. Looking at it now maybe I'll color in the rocket ship... or maybe not.

Materials: White Card Stock, Celery card stock, beautiful blue, blue card stock, Paper Source Rocket Stamp, Circle punch

Cheers to You

A birthday card using the Card Position Systems sketch. It started out with a color challenge, but after I failed to use pink, I resorted back to the colors I like. I tried, I tried and then decided I couldn't do it. I'm confident I'll find another color challenge I like, in the mean time here's a cute little cupcake card for someone's birthday. I'm also entering it in Jenny's Wee Memories challenge because I took the time to cute out the cupcake and she's celebrating paper piercing this week.

Materials: Studio G cupcake stamp, Stampin Up sentiment, Hero Arts swirly dot stamp, Stampin Up Black ink, Stampin Up Kiwi card stock, can't remember where the green polka paper came from, and black card stock

Ladybug & flowers

Still trying to make some ladybug and butterfly cards for a friend and when I saw these stamps in my cling collection I thought "perfect". Funny how I've had these stamps for years and have used others from the set, but never these two. This sketch is from CPS Sketch #168 challenge.
