coffee and food

Hello!  I have a few projects to share, so grab a coffee and enjoy these coffee/food creations (all I'm missing in a wine label and I'd have all my favorite themes covered, oh well there's always tomorrow right?).  First up... a coffee card for the Verve Anni-VERVE-sary CAS card challenge

I also wanted to play along with the Verve Anything But a Card challenge, so I made a handy gift card holder.  I used the CR84FN colors.

Next up, I couldn't wait to get inky with the new PTI Foodie Fun set (I mean really, how could I resist??).  I used this week's ColourQ colors, although I guess my turquoise is a bit greener then it should be... I tried.

And this fabulous card I think works well for the new Young Crafters Unite Challenge, "trends", I'm loving the hexagon trend.

And lastly... the other day I shared a superhero sighting in my oh-so-messy craft room, but I had to tell you that I've got a different creature and look... the floor, the desk... and you can't see in this photo-- but the pile in front of the closet-- GONE!  Any guesses on who's he's dressed as today?  Jinny was the only one to get the right guess on Monday.

Right... well done, you made it to the end... forget coffee, I'm off to reward myself with a glass of wine.

let's chat

I just won a set of Paper Smooches stamps from Marie so as a thank you I thought it'd be fun to play along with the two challenges she's on the DT for, Paper Smooches Sparks (see photo below) and Young Crafters Unite (use sewing or stitching on your card).  I took a class a couple of weeks ago and Jenyfur gave us some tips for working with Faber Castell gelatos, and I'm hooked.  Too bad I only bought 4 of them...

Materials: Paper Smooches Vogue Abode, Sassafras Lass Stitchery, PTI On My Couch, Faber Castell gelatos, Tattered Angels black mist, Versafine black ink, Stampendous clear embossing powder, vellum, PTI white card stock, PTI Tag It Sale die, Stampin Up yellow ribbon

Wine Labels

I made this wine label the other day while demonstrating to a friend my new letterpress and her daughter was so taken with it I sent it home with them as a keepsake.  But, it works perfectly for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge of "Cream, Black and Bling".  Less Is More is doing netural CAS cards this week and I think this label fits in perfectly with that challenge.

This label is for the Young Crafters Unite challenge to make a clear card.  I didn't have any acetate, so I used vellum to make this wine label.  It's not totally clear...  but hopefully you ladies will work with me :) Simon Says Stamp is having an anything goes week, so either of these would work well for that challenge.

Materials: Lifestyle Crafts Happy Holidays letterpress, My Mind's Eye bling, PTI edgers #1 die, EK Success 1 3/4th inch circle punch, Fiskars corner rounder punch

PTI Happy Trails sentiment, PTI Rosie Posie and dies, PTI Tag Sale die, PTI Edgers #1 die, Vellum, PTI white card stock, PTI simply chartreuse ink, Versacolor Canary ink, Versafine black ink, Stampendous clear embossing powder, Twinery twine

celebrate wine label

I mentioned the other week that I was trying to rent more rooms at the motel by offering a wine label and 2 coupons to two local tasting rooms, and thankfully my marketing ploy is working!  Today's CAS label uses the Young Crafters Unite sketch.  That's all for today :)

hello, friend and celebrate

You know when you have a bunch of cards you need to make and you end up making random cards because that's what you were inspired to do?  Hello, friend is one of those.  I used Lucy's Cards sketch (Day #4).  Young Crafters Unite is having a CAS challenge and I love all the white on this card, swoon.

And this wine label uses the Make it Monday technique of the ink brayer over the impression plate and I think it works for the Lawnscaping Birthday challenge.  I also used the Lucy's Cards sketch (Day #3).

tag and Christmas ornament card

The Lawnscaping Challenge is to use the above photo as a source of inspriation, so I used some burlap and red and made a cute little tag.  Simon Says Stamp is also having a tag challenge this week.

The CAS-ual Fridays challenge was to use Karen's sketch, I die cut out a window and ornament, which works great for the new Young Crafters Unite challenge.  A girlfriend stopped by today to go check out a local artisan fair with me and bought both of these projects and a few other Christmas goodies I had floating around, guess it's time to make some more Christmas crafty goodies.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you all had a fabulous day celebrating family, health and food.  I was lucky to have a very relaxed day, no travel, no visitors, no cooking and thankfully no phone calls from work.  A walk in the rain, some quality time with family and a big ol plate of delicious food, what more can a gal ask for?  Yesterday I made the wine label on the left, so I thought I'd bring that bottle of red with a complimenting bottle of white from the same New Zealand winery, so I whipped up another fun wine label.

I actually made this card before the wine label, and since the DH liked the sentiment so much I used it again for his wine tag.  This card uses the Coredinations November color challenge.  And since I've die cut all the leaves I'll also enter it in the Young Crafters Unite die cut challenge.  And since I've used all Unity stamps, I'm finally going to play along with another Friends With Flair.

Super Sunday

Welcome to another 365 Cards Super Sketchy Sunday, this week's sketch inspired me to make a Christmas card (something I do not feel inspired to do often).  Part of the inspiration was all those amazing cards over at the Cards that Care blog hop.  Does anyone else have a blog hop hangover?  I tried, I really tried, but between the Young Crafters Unite, the Cards that Care and the Handmade Holidays Hop I ran out of steam.  But back to today's projects...   The first take on the sketch uses more traditional Christmas cards, so I'll send it to Jennifer for her Cards that Care drive and ABC Toys and Craft Christmas card challenge.  The second take on the sketch was my attempt at this week's Play Date Cafe colors, it's the Tim Holtz Distress ink worn lipstick, which should've looked a bit more pink, but looks pretty red in this photo.  I tried ladies.

I went to a 40th birthday party last night for a friend and about half an hour before we were set to go I realized that I didn't have the right card, so based on the success on this wine label for Karen's birthday, I quickly made up another one.    Being a birthday boy, it works well for the Young Crafters Unite "create a masculine project" and the Wee Memories "Handmade Gifts, tags and Wrap", I think wine tags are going to be my go to birthday project from here on out.  And to think these have been inspired by the PTI wine label die, which is still on back order!  Perhaps I don't need the die after all?

Next up is an oldie but a goodie...  The talented Amy is celebrated her 4th blog birthday and wants everyone to link up to her Flashback Friday challenge of post your first banner.  I don't think I've ever made an actual banner, but this background banner was on this birthday card from May 2010.  And the card was so lonely without a single comment, that Ms. Amy left some love this morning, ah...  what a fabulous friend.

bookworm and boy reading

Welcome to this week's 365 Cards Super Sketchy Sunday, there's a whole week of Robyn's Fetish Digital  Stamps fun.  Come play along this week, can't wait to see what you create.  And since we're talking about reading... here's another little card.

I made this little card the other day and kept meaning to post it for the A Passion for Papertrey "Silhouette" challenge and the Young Crafters Unite "masculine" challenge, and now I'm realizing the only time to post it is now!  The photo is a little blurry, but since I sold the card to a friend, I didn't realize it till after she'd taken the card home.  If anyone is looking for a fabulous PTI set, I'd say All Booked Up is a goodie, how's that for a little enabling?

great big Hugs

Today's card is a combination of inspirations.  First I loved what Karen and Christina did yesterday with Karen's "Carbon Copy" challenge (CR84FN colors and WPlus9 Woodgrain Silhouettes and Additions), so I was inspired to fussy cut out the flowers.  But when I saw Ashley's card, I thought, why not make it postal, as I was trying to find a way to incorporate the circle into the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.  And since I went postal, in my little mind, it made sense to make an envelope for the Young Crafts Unite challenge.    To add a little extra to the woodgrain in my card I inked up the Tim Holtz woodgrain embossing folder with gathered twig distress ink, which is another great example of the challenge I'm the guest blogger on over at Yvonne's Do More With Less.  If you haven't played along, there's still another week to ink up, I'd love to see what you create.
